Number: MER0003PID In Group Research & Mercedes-Benz Cars Development (RD), we design the automotive generations of the future. We mean innovative products with the highest quality and efficient development processes. We are already working on vehicles that will secure the technology leadership of Mercedes-Benz in the future. The development of electric vehicle drives is a core competency of Mercedes-Benz AG and therefore an essential part of our future strategy. In electromobility, Li-Ion batteries are the key technology. The Battery Development Center (RD/EB) is responsible for the development of high-voltage batteries in Mercedes-Benz AG and the RD/EBK department is responsible for cell chemistry further development and the development and release of single cells as well as cell modules. The rapid technological development in the design of automotive cells and their production process will continue in the coming years and will be actively driven by the team of cell technology. We develop production processes for the latest cell technologies with the aim of producing the best batteries and minimizing the CO2 balance of cell production. The most modern systems are used for this purpose, which offer a wide range of parameters for optimization. Chemistry and process engineering are implemented here in practice.
