IT Security Architect (m/w/d)

''Research for a life without cancer'' is our task at the German Cancer Research Centre. We are investigating how cancer arises, finding cancer risk factors and looking for new strategies to prevent people from suffering from cancer. We are developing new methods that allow tumours to be more precise and cancer patients to be treated more effectively. Every contribution counts – whether in research, administration or infra structure. This makes our daily work so important and exciting. IT Core Facility is looking for a:n IT Security Architect:in (m/w/d). Reference number: 2025-0134 The DKFZ plays a leading role in digital transformation in life and health sciences and aims to better understand cancer and develop innovative approaches to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. The latest information technologies and the development of AI algorithms are of particular importance at the DKFZ.

For this purpose, the Core Facility Information Technology (ITCF) operates a central data and data center and supervises several thousand individual space computers, mainly on Windows, but also on macOS and Linux. The ITCF provides this heterogeneous and science-optimized environment with network and security technology, supported in hardware and software issues, operates and optimises powerful compute and data servers and advises the specialist departments on IT projects.

In order to support our IT Security working group in its diverse and responsible tasks, we are looking for an IT Security Architect:in (m/w/d) at the next possible time.

Project management and control: Responsibility for IT security projects from conception to implementation Introduction of new IT security solutions: identification, evaluation and integration of innovative security solutions to protect our IT environment proactively and increase cyber resilience Cloud Security Strategies: Development and Implementation of Safe Cloud Solutions for Research and Administration Coordination and cooperation: Close cooperation with employees:inside the ITCF, with other specialist departments of the DKFZ and coordination of service providers to ensure a holistic IT security level Working with the DKFZ Computer Emergency Response Team (DKFZ-CERT) to detect and treat IT security incidents

Qualifications: Completed (master) degree of computer science or IT security; as an alternative a comparable qualification with several years of professional experience in IT security Experience in the evaluation and implementation of IT security solutions, ideally in a complex and heterogeneous environment Knowledge of network and IT security architectures as well as understanding of interfaces and interaction of different components and responsible teams Cloud Security Experience is Benefit Certifications in the field of IT security by GIAC, ISC2, TeleTrusT or manufacturer certifications are advantageous

Language knowledge: German and English in at least B2 level

The job would also be conceivable in the context of a professional master's degree in the field of IT security.
