In the Central Department of Transfusion Medicine, approx. 20.000 blood donations taken from voluntary donors as full blood donations or aperitif donations (machine donations) and processed into different blood products. The department runs its own bone marrow and stem cell donation file (KMSG), in which about 35,000 potential stem cell donors are registered. In addition, autologous and allogeneous stem cell sampling, therapeutic disorders, immune therapies, which are produced by the KMSG for patients worldwide are carried out. The KMSG works closely with the ZKRD (Zentrale Knochenmarkspenderregister Deutschland) in Ulm.
