The GFZ is the national center for researching the solid earth in Germany. We promote the understanding of dynamic processes for addressing global challenges – from mitigating the impacts of natural hazards to preserving our environment in times of global change to responsible use of natural resources. We are a member of the Helmholtz Association, the largest German scientific organization. With around 1,200 employees and approx. Software Developer:in (w_m_d) – DataOrganizer (DOG) 11249 Become part of our IT team at the GFZ – Design The Digital Future of Geoscience In the data center of the GFZ we develop and operate modern IT infrastructures for data-intensive research. For the further development of our DataOrganizer (DOG) – a web-based application for the use of S3-compatible object storage – we are looking for backup. The DataOrganizer allows scientists to easily manage, share and access large amounts of data. It offers features such as project management, roll-based access control and an integrated file browser.

Development, operation and further development of the web-based DataOrganizer (DOG) tool for using S3-compatible object stores Implementation of requirements in existing software architectures (frontend and backend) Implementation and maintenance of interfaces (e.g. REST APIs, S3) Development of functions for data management, access control and user interaction Integration of the system into existing IT infrastructures and services of the GFZ Conducting tests, fault analyses and bug fixes Support for deployment, operation and monitoring of the application Creation and maintenance of technical documentation User support:inside technical questions

Required qualifications: completed university studies (Bachelor) in computer science or a comparable subject or a comparable qualification with relevant professional experience Experience in software development (frontend and/or backend) Knowledge of modern web technologies (e.g. JavaScript/TypeScript, Vue/Nuxt or comparable) Experience with APIs and Web Interfaces (REST, HTTP) Knowledge of how to use databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MongoDB) Experience with version control (Git) Basic knowledge of Linux, Docker and Deployment Processes Interest in data management and data-intensive applications proven German (min.
