In order to meet our high standards every day, we look forward to your medical expertise in the Children's Heart Surgery section. Here, in a growing program, in close cooperation with the Klinik für Kinder- und Jugendmedizin – Paediatric Cardiology (Prof. Dr. Matthias Sigler) – and the other partners in the children's heart team, we provide for the surgical treatment of all congenital and acquired heart diseases from the newborn to the youth age. Our care includes the entire range of child heart surgery with the exception of long-term mechanical circulation support and heart transplantation. Furthermore, in cooperation with the Clinic for Cardiology III (Prof. Dr. Gerhard Diller) and the Clinic for Adult Heart Surgery (Prof. Dr. Sven Martens) we provide adults with congenital heart defects. We apply all modern treatment options, including intraoperative hybrid procedures – best with you!

You are a specialist (gn*) for cardiac surgery or just before the doctor's certificate (up to 18 months of further education are possible in the section of childhood surgery). You carry out your own surgical operations (aortocoronar bypass surgery, aortic valve surgery, ECMO, pacemaker interventions). You have experiences in the perioperative care of heart-surgical patients. You want to specialize in the surgery of congenital heart defects in the long term, show curiosity, interest and commitment. You are characterized by outstanding communication and team skills related to the entire children's heart team and beyond. You are extremely empathic and stand for close and trusting care of our patients and their families before, during and after surgery. You are a doctorate and show interest in scientific work on the further development of our field. Teaching and training are part of your clinical work for yourself.
