At the Institute for Electricity-Propulsion, we are investigating future more emission-efficient aircraft engines for civil aircraft and developing new technologies for reducing greenhouse gases. Be part of an open-minded team and analyze and solve future-oriented, scientific questions with the focus on alternative aircraft engines.

The Department of Environmental Effects and Sensorics focuses on the investigation of emissions of electrified aviation drives. This includes, in addition to the formation of particles, heat and moisture and the development of sound by the individual components of the electric or hybrid-electric drive train, the alternating effects and possible mitigation measures, also the investigation of sustainability and effect on humans. Furthermore, the department's research focuses on the targeted use and development of adapted sensor technology and associated signal processing methods for detailed measurements taking into account the marginal conditions of aviation. Your tasks Establishment and management of a team for scientific investigation of all issues relating to environmental impact and sustainability for (hybrid-)electric aeronautical drives within the department Conducting scientific investigations on calculation and estimation procedures for the environmental impact of new components and systems, in particular particle emissions, temperature and humidity Life cycle analysis Acquisition and management of research projects Development of methods for calculating or estimating emissions of components (hybrid-)electric drive systems under the specific conditions of aviation Scientific advice from industry and department in the areas of environmental impacts and sustainability for (hybrid-)electrical flight drives

Representation of scientific results to external and internal contractors

completed scientific university studies (Master/Diplom University) of the natural sciences (e.g. physics), mathematics or engineering (e.g. in the fields of aerospace technology, electrical engineering, measurement and control technology, physics engineering, technical environmental protection) or other studies relevant to the activity practical research experience (at least 4-5 years) in the field of physics, mathematics, electrical engineering or computer science, with a focus on the calculation and/or evaluation of emissions and environmental compatibility, e.g. B. acquired by a doctorate or by other proven research activities deeper expertise in air quality monitoring, measurement and assessment of air pollutants, meteorology and climatology and/or life cycle analysis deeper user knowledge of software to calculate the generation of emissions and/or corresponding separation and analysis methods first detectable experience in conducting corresponding projects with responsibility for acquisition, personnel, budgets, dates and scientific quality Experience with the publication in scientific journals very good knowledge of German and English
