Manager Purchasing (m/f/d)

As a purchaser in the Technical Operations River (TOR) technical area, you will conduct the procurement activities to support the maintenance and repair work for the Viking fleet, which consists of over 80 river vessels. You report to the Purchasing Manager (Senior Manager) and are responsible for the supplier performance, contract negotiations and budget results, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. The location of this position is Cologne, occasional business trips to suppliers and operational centers in Europe are part of the activity.

MATERIALS Own procurement activities for technical spare parts and consumables Translating fleet requirements into purchasing strategy Cooperation with the technical management and supplier in the planning and risk mitigation Management of the purchasing budget, the savings pipeline and the cost performance compared to the objectives Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and all stakeholders Development of a long-term planning strategy together with logistics and technology teams to ensure a smooth end-to-end supply chain Lead the continuous improvement and digitization of procurement processes and systems. Implementation of technical management planning into a purchasing strategy Ensuring compliance with procurement policies, standards and documentation regulations mentor and coach for young people in purchasing; assignment of work tasks and

Training and professional experience Completion in business, engineering or equivalent experience 3–5 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management, ideally in technical environments Representative negotiating and supplier management skills Understanding technical spare parts and components used in ship operations Knowledge of customs clearance and dangerous goods documentation (of advantage) Excellent communication skills in English and German Experience with data analysis tools or AI-based shopping solutions (of advantage)
