Supplier: University Library The University Library is the central institution for information and media supply at RWTH Aachen for students, lecturers and scientists. It supports the university in the three strategic pillars: teaching, research and transfer in business and society. The University Library's Patent and Standards Centre (PNZ) supports the university and regional startups with consulting and research services as a specialized service facility. Our task is to raise awareness of opportunities and risks in the protection of intellectual property. Basic technical literature such as patents, standards and industry standards as well as sound knowledge about IP rights are crucial for the successful implementation of research results in the field of high technology. We are therefore committed to bringing essential information about intellectual property to the university! As a recognized cooperation partner of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office and the Aachen Society for Innovation and Technology Transfer GmbH, the PNZ is constantly developing its services. It is well connected both internationally and throughout Germany and works closely together with RWTH-internal and regional players in the technology transfer e.g. with IHK and HWK Aachen as well as local patent lawyers. In your role as a researcher, you are part of the scientific service of the University Library. You support scientists and innovative founders in research on the state of the art for the preparation of funding applications and for the protection of inventions. This includes: the development of research strategies. carrying out research in professional databases. the creation of comprehensive research reports. the care of our client in searches in the above-mentioned databases. As an expert, you can use our professional databases efficiently and keep an eye on the further development of research opportunities using AI. As part of the IP strategy for beginners, research and founding teams from the university and the city region will advise you on the protection of their intellectual property – including at the AGIT patent day. You conduct job searches to brands, designs and standards. In addition, you organize training and information events both virtually and in presence for university members and external customer groups; create training concepts and learning materials for independent learning. Finally, you represent the PNZ at regional and national events or bodies.

You have a successfully completed degree (master, diploma or comparable degree) in one or more subjects of engineering or natural sciences (in particular mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, medical technology, physics or computer science) as well as industrial or patent engineering. First experiences and relevant qualifications in the field of industrial property are advantageous, but no prerequisite. You are characterized by analytical thinking, work conceptually and independently and bring a high degree of self-initiative. Their pronounced communicative and social competence allows you to experience a safe way in dealing with the college and the clientele. The work in an interdisciplinary environment with regional, national and international cooperation partners prepares you joy. Very good knowledge of German and English complete your profile.

The employment is in the employment relationship. The place shall be occupied at the next possible time and shall be permanent. It is a part-time job with three quarters of regular weekly working time. The grouping depends on the TV-L. The place is rated with EG 13 TV-L. The job description is aimed at all sexes.
