Translator Kiswahili for the Educational Programs Department of DW Akademie (m/f/d)

We are looking for the DW Academy at the Bonn site on 1st. May 2026 or at the closest possible time translators (w⁠/⁠m⁠/⁠d) Kiswahili terminated for four to nine months in free cooperation.

The promotion of the German language is an important part of the legal programme order of the Deutsche Welle. The Educational Programs department at the DW Academy creates multimedia language learning offers for all levels in different languages – from didactically prepared messages to communities on Facebook and Twitter.

We need your full-time support for our mobile online language course “Nicos Weg” and for further offers.

You work closely in a small translation team with two to three other people. Here is a selection of your future tasks: Participation in the German language learning format “Nicos Weg” (dw.com/nico) and other offers independent translation from German to Kiswahili, coordination of linguistic standards with other team members and application of these standards Translation, creation and acceptance of video subtitles Correction of texts and quality assurance of online learning offers

You have perfect language skills in Kiswahili at native level. At the same time, your knowledge of German is very good, so that you can translate, for example, grammatical rules of German easily and precisely.

You have a precise look at formal standards. Your very good computer skills and perhaps even first experience in handling editorial systems have been a natural basis for your work.

Ideally, you can prove your knowledge through a completed university degree in a Germanistic or foreign language subject with didactic orientation or a study for translation ''Deutsch-Kiswahili''.

You like to work independently, independently and think. Your clients appreciate your translations because You are made of good quality and with great care. You're communicative and you better ask if you're unsure. The close cooperation in a team with other translators makes you think that your common product seems to come from just one pen.

The period of assignment is limited to about four to nine months within the scope of our project. Mobile work is possible within Germany, your registered residence must also be in Germany. Part of the tasks should be done at the Funkhaus in Bonn.
