Optical Engineer
XSYS Prepress (Ieper), a division of XSYS Global, is a recognized leader in the design and production of Computer-to-Plate machines for the printing industry. For packaging, XSYS offers advanced digital sheet production lines known as ThermoFlexX and Catena. We are looking for experienced Optical Engineer who wants to strengthen our R&D team and contribute to the development of advanced optical systems for printing machines. Develop advanced optical systems for printing machines, in consultation with project leaders, product managers, and the R&D team. Designs are created in Zemax and transferred to SolidWorks in collaboration with a CAD designer Work with optical components search as lenses, mirrors, high/low-power fiber lasers, and LEDs. Machines require mechanical precision at the (sub)micrometer scale, requires close collaboration with mechanics, electronics, and firmware teams Assemble optical test setups, prototypes, and subassemblies, transferring know-how to production and service teams Source specialized optical components in coordination with the purchasing department Continuously improve optical performance based on feedback from service and production teams Report directly to the R&D Director
Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in optics, photonics, or applied physics Minimum 10 years of relevant experience Strong understanding of optical principles; experience with Zemax is essential Programming skills (e.g., Matlab) are a plus Independent, structured, hands-on and passionate about technology Creative problem-solving and out-of-the-box thinking, combined with a collaborative mindset across R&D disciplines (mechanics, electronics, and software) Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch is an advantage Stress-resistant and highly motivated
