Number: MER00047EY Your application area The Infotainment Security team is part of the MBOS Security Engineering at Mercedes-Benz and is responsible for securing the Android-based vehicle infotainment platform. We develop internal security tools, analyze Vulnerabilities and ensure system security across the entire vehicle development process. These challenges come to you: Development of an internal Android Security app to visualize additional security-relevant system parameters (SELinux status, firewall rules, open TCP ports, kernel version, AVC cache, ...)

Integration of the open-source binary analysis tool checksec for automated testing of compile-time security features (RELRO, Stack Canary, NX, PIE) in system binaries

Extension of the app for safety information from vehicle subsystems (QNX, TgVM)

Implementation of an ambient light integration: for predefined safety events or critical system states, the app should automatically set the color of the vehicle interior light to a fixed value or let it flash for a few seconds

Connection of the app to the Mercedes-Benz Internal App Store to enable easy and scalable distribution on development vehicles

The activity can start from October 2026. The final topics will be discussed with the university, you and us.

Studies in the field of computer science, IT security, electrical engineering or a comparable degree programme

Basic knowledge of Android development (Java/Kotlin) or Linux systems

Interest in IT security and embedded systems
