This gives you a very substantial influence on the appearance of the Group in the inside and outside. You ensure legal action and technical progress for Mercedes-Benz Group AG. These challenges include: Own-sponsored control of the global patent portfolio to ensure the best possible IP-exclusiveness in the technology cluster/s to “Data Ecosystem & AI” and to ensure the IP-handling freedom in the development process in this technical field

Own-responsible building and control of the global patent portfolio in the field of digital services and data ecosystem across all corporate and IP locations. Selection of the strategically important patent applications, definition and initiation of the respective country applications according to the IP strategy group, the economic significance of the inventions and the budget specifications. You agree with the R&D areas, the controlling and the Group IP.

Processing of inventor's enquiries in particular also corresponding enquiries concerning the law on employee inventions. Support in the patent-correct arrangement of the technological-inventive contribution of the aforementioned inventors – both internally and in joint inventions with external partners

Identify third-party infringements, create permission requests and conduct contract negotiations, and draft and interdisciplinary coordination of contractual documents in the enforcement of proprietary rights to third parties

Editing complex authorization requests from third parties to alleged violations of the law. Examination of the patents and the third-party patent portfolio, identifying possible own infringements of this portfolio, including risk assessment. Based on this, the negotiation or defence strategy is created independently. Conducting contract negotiations and drawing up and interdisciplinary coordination of contract documents in the licensing of third-party rights

Conception and implementation of internal training for industrial property rights, in particular with regard to patent application, patent application and division, as well as inventive remuneration in the fields of expertise

Independent and independent project-accompanying consultation of the relevant R&D areas and other functions (e.g. purchasing, development, project management, M&A) with the aim of securing their own IP positions with very high legal or technical difficulty

Training of colleagues to the authorised European representative and/or German patent attorney. Training and support of new IP colleagues and employees in and abroad

Ideally, you have the following qualifications: Complete study in Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Physics as well as sound knowledge in mathematical modeling and Machine Learning

Approval as a representative at the European Patent Office or as a German patent attorneyin or Patent holderin

You have many years of experience in Intellectual Property Management, especially in the construction of patent portfolios, in risk analysis and in the defense against or licensing of Technolgie portfolios of third parties, at international level

Ideally, you collected your knowledge in various companies and deepened it by additional qualifications such as an LL.M. in IP or competition law

Very good knowledge of German and English in word and writing

Knowledge of another foreign language, in particular Chinese or Japanese, is advantageous
