In the tailored business area, the tasks and opportunities relating to the major urban planning, environmental and climate protection issues are brought together, considered holistically and proactively. Not only globally, it is important to place particular emphasis on this subject, but also to take sustainable measures directly on site in Gütersloh in order to preserve Gütersloh as an attractive habitat. It expects an interesting and varied activity every day. The business unit 4 – with currently around 350 employees – comprises the departments: Environmental and climate protection Urban planning Green areas Civil engineering and urban drainage Urban cleaning Construction Construction services A later change or extension of the business unit is reserved.

As an experienced manager, you take over the responsible management and strategic management of the business unit and bear the responsibility for the associated projects. In doing so, you will provide important impulses for sustainable urban development and keep in mind the needs of citizens and local businesses. You are responsible for the coordination of various major projects, such as the redesign of the station environment. A further focus is on consistent cross-border cooperation, e.g. on the further development of the city centre. You are driving forward that the systems can react more resiliently to heat and special rain events in the form of adapted infrastructure. You demand and promote the innovation and service orientation of employees – also through the use of artificial intelligence and other digital tools. In close and partnership, you work with the subsidiaries, in particular the municipal works of Gütersloh and the conceptGT, as well as their managements, and represent the city in the respective bodies. In addition, you represent the topics of the division in political bodies, regional networks and external partners. A trusted cooperation with the mayor, the members of the administrative board and policy is of course for you.

You fulfil the general conditions under the law of the beams according to § 119 LBG NRW and the technical requirements according to § 71 GO NRW. You have completed academic studies in a relevant field (e.g. environment, urban planning, urban planning, transport, architecture or civil engineering). The career capability for the career group 2., 2. Entry office of the construction or environmental service (formerly higher technical service) is advantageous.
