The Bernau Judicial Detention Centre became independent detention centre in 1920; Since then, it has been continuously developed, structurally restructured and fully adapted to the increasing requirements of time. The institution is predominantly responsible for the execution of imprisonment in the case of repetition up to three years for adult men from the whole of South Bavaria. The fermentation plant has 5.3 ha of land in the open land and 0.1 ha of greenhouse areas. Various vegetables are cultivated on a biological basis and sold in the on-site sales room.
