Group Leader Semiconductor Integration Technologies

Branch: Humanities Branch: Humanities

The Fraunhofer Society is one of the world's leading organisations for application-oriented research. 75 institutes develop groundbreaking technologies for our economy and society – more precisely: 32 000 people from technology, science, administration and IT. You know, who comes to Fraunhofer wants and can change something. For yourself, for us and the markets of today and tomorrow. As a research and development partner for the industry, the Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems IMS develops customized microelectronic circuits, microsystems and sensors for specific requirements of our research and industrial partners. Our CMOS and MST refining space – one of the most powerful in the German research landscape – combines industrial manufacturing depth with academic excellence in direct partnership with the University of Duisburg-Essen. Our group "Semiconductor Integration Technologies" bridges the bridge between basic research and industrial application. Here we develop the detectors and sensor systems that will depend on sectors from space to medical technology in the coming decades. As part of APECS – one of the EU Chips Act pilot lines in Europe – we develop highly sensitive single photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) of the next generation: detectors that can register individual photons. Applications range from quantum technologies to earth observation from space to medical imaging. As an open access pilot line, we create access to modern post-CMOS processes for start-ups, SMEs and corporations – without our own Fab, without millions of investment. As a group management, you actively shape this platform and build the ecosystem of European semiconductor innovation. .

As a group management, you actively shape this platform and build the ecosystem of European semiconductor innovation.

You lead a team of scientific employees and support their professional and personal development, focusing on individual development and innovation in semiconductor technologies and quality awareness. Using trend and market analyses as well as discussions with industry, you develop new research approaches in coordination with the department management and thus determine the strategic orientation of your group. You coordinate the ongoing projects within your group in the fields of integration technologies and sensor technology and present the project results at conferences, trade fairs, forums, project partners and external customers as well as in the form of scientific publications. Together with our business areas, you can acquire public and industrial projects and thus ensure the financing of the group. To do this, you build an international network of industrial partners, contracting authorities and universities. You can do this by visiting trade fairs, conferences and workshops. You promote young scientists and create a group culture where curiosity and ideas are welcome.
