Number: MER0003Z85 The Center for Battery Development is responsible for the development of HV batteries for electric vehicles in Mercedes-Benz AG. This includes, among other things, the serial support of suppliers for the development of lithium-ion cells and cell modules of the future. In addition to intensive supplier support, the department is responsible for the safety of lithium-ion cells in electric vehicles across the group. In this context, we work in an interdisciplinary manner with various specialist areas such as functional safety or the battery system in order to jointly shape a sustainable and at the same time secure electromobility of the future. To further develop the current security strategy of lithium-ion cells, our team is looking for an motivated internin. In this role, you take an important role in which the following focuses of work await you: These challenges include: Support in analyzing the safety behavior of lithium-ion battery cells

Investigation of battery cells with electrochemical and physicochemical analysis techniques

Planning and analysis of cell safety tests to identify key factors in safety behaviour

Evaluation and documentation of the results

Presentation of results in the team

The activity can begin from June 2026.

Studies in Chemistry or Engineering

Good knowledge of lithium-ion cells

Secure knowledge of German and English in word and writing

Safe handling of MS Office

Advantageous knowledge of Matlab

Commitment and team skills

Self-employed, structured and scientific work

Analytical thinking

Class B driving licence
