IT Specialist Audit – Strategic Development of Auditing – Digitalization & IT

The Max Planck Society for the Promotion of Science (MPG) is a self-government organization of science funded by the federal and state governments. At present, it operates 85 institutes and research institutes in Germany and abroad for basic research in science and humanities and is thus one of the leading international research institutes with numerous Nobel laureates in their ranks. The General Administration of the MPG is looking for an for its revision department from 01.01.2027 for 39 hours per week IT expertin revision – Strategic further development of the revision – Digitization & IT (code 40/26) As a future-oriented internal revision, the Revision Department, with its independent and objective auditing and consulting activities, contributes decisively to the strengthening and protection of the Max Planck Society. In order to meet these high demands, we are looking for a dedicated and competent personality as a lecturer in the field of information security, which enriches our team with professional expertise, modern testing methodology and an open-minded attitude towards changes and future-oriented thinking. The department consists of more than 30 employees and is divided into six areas: budgetary and economic management, organisation, personnel, construction, industrial engineering and IT. This cross-disciplinary structure enables holistic auditing and consulting activities that play a central role in the field of IT integration and digital transformation.

Special impulses and co-design of the future-oriented realignment of the audit landscape of the Revision department in close coordination with the audit management, focusing on IT transformation, cyber security and data-based testing methods. Ensuring strategic coherence and professional networking between the departments of the department in terms of IT and digitalization issues. Further development of innovative test methods focusing on data-based methods, AI-based analysis and continuous digital process monitoring. Heading and leading coordination of complex cross-disciplinary audits of the non-scientific activities of the MPG institutions with the involvement of several departments (e.g. organisation, personnel, IT, construction, operating technology) in accordance with the business regulations of the revision and the Global Internal Audit Standards. Implementation of audits and consultations in accordance with the Global Internal Audit Standards, focusing on IT security, risk assessment and the preparation of audit reports. Technical advice and support for the entire IT-relevant topics in the auditing activity as well as as a central stimulus for the strategic further development of IT security and digitization – with a focus on the increasing importance of digital processes for all areas of expertise. Close and constructive cooperation with the Information Security Commissioner, as well as all relevant revision partners and specialist departments.

Successfully completed scientific university studies in computer science, information security, business informatics or a comparable degree programme About five years of relevant professional experience, for example in the IT revision, IT interfaces or in an IT management function or in comparable activities Comprehensive knowledge of IT security standards (e.g. ISO 27001); Certifications in the field of IT security (e.g. ISO 27001 Lead Auditor or CISA) are desirable Ideally experience in the IT revision and proven ability to interdisciplinary cooperation Detectable experience in managing and coordinating complex, cross-disciplinary audits or projects, ideally in the context of internal auditing or in comparable audits or projects Control functions Impressive analytical thinking, innovative spirit and strength High communication skills, openness to modern, agile working methods and a structured, analytical and targeted, self-responsible way of working High motivation for the further development of the tasks of the department in the context of the dynamic development of the revision department readiness for national and international missions Excellent oral and written expressiveness in German (at least C1 level) and English
