Technician / Engineer – Test Bench Operation for Electrolysis Systems for the Production of Basic Chemicals (f/m/d)

Branch: Humanities Branch: Humanities

Research for a society in change: This is our drive at the Jülich Research Centre. As a member of the Helmholtz Association, we are presenting great social challenges of our time and exploring options for the digitalisated society, a climate-saving energy system and related services. Work together with around 7,500 colleagues: in one of the largest research centres in Europe and shape the change with us! The Institute of Energy Technologies – Basics of Electrochemistry (IET-1) deals with the scientific foundations of the development of powerful and resource-efficient materials and components for electrochemical energy storage and energy conversion. The aim of the research and development work is cost-effective batteries, fuel cells and electrolyzers with improved energy and power density, longer service life and maximum safety! These key technologies help to advance the energy transition and structural change in the Rhine basin. More information about our exciting projects: go.fzj.de/iet-1. Strengthen this range at the next time as Technicians:in / Engineer:in – Test stand operation for electrolysis systems for the production of basic chemicals (w/m/d) JOBV1_EN

Within the framework of a research project in the field of CO2 electrolysis, IET-1 is planning to operate electrolytic cells on a laboratory scale and high-performance electrolytic systems on a kW and MW scale. The aim of the experiments is to examine the degradation behavior of the electrolyzers in continuous experiments in close cooperation with industrial partners. Furthermore, the operating parameters are to be optimized with regard to energy efficiency and product yield. In particular, we are looking for a person who is already familiar with the control of measurement levels and ideally also with automated data acquisition and evaluation. Your tasks in detail: operation of measuring stands with monitoring of all process parameters including safety-relevant aspects Adaptation and extension of hardware and software to increase the degree of automation of electrolysis measurement Cooperation in the operation of electrolysis plants up to the MW scale Testing and introduction of new measuring techniques Participation in the production and maintenance of the documentation of occupational safety measures (e.g. CE conformity procedures, explosion protection documents, risk assessments and operational or experimental instructions) Application of scientific software and test stand support systems (e.g. Python, LabVIEW)

Completed training as a state-tested:r Technicians:in or completed Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or Automation Technology Theoretical and practical knowledge of measurement and control technology Safe handling of a (or several) relevant programming language(s) for data processing/evaluation and/or test bench control (e.g. Python, LabVIEW) desired Advantageous knowledge in the field of process equipment Experience in technical documentation, e.g. for certification of test benches or plants Self-employment, commitment and willingness to take responsibility Very good communication and team skills Good knowledge of English and German in word and writing

We work on highly topical socially relevant topics and offer you the opportunity to actively shape change!
