Innovative surface development: production and optimization of Supported Lipid Bilayers (SLBs) on Si/SiO2 chips including surface preparation, fine tuning of lipid and buffer conditions and quality assurance Targeted functionalization: Development and implementation of modern binding strategies for protein immobilization (e.g. His-Tag/Ni-NTA, biotin-streptavidin and other chemical systems) Performance and stability analyses: Conception and implementation of meaningful assays to evaluate integrity, reproducibility, protein functionality and fouling resistance Precise data collection: performing quantitative binding studies by means of fluorescence techniques (including FRET) and deriving loadable characteristic numbers Structured process development: creation of standardized protocols (SOPs) and continuous optimization based on data-driven analyses

PhD in Biophysics, Physical Chemistry, Bioengineering, Surface Science or a related field Finded practical experience with thin layers, in particular Supported Lipid Bilayers (SLBs), and in the functionalization of membranes – ideally on SiO2 Experience with fluorescence-based analysis methods for membrane assays, knowledge in FRET are a plus High experimental care, structured working and strong skills in scientific documentation Secure engagement in in interdisciplinary teams as well as clear and targeted communication Convinced on the whole line -
