Thesis in the direction of acoustic lensing (m/f/d)

Rosenxt is a future-oriented technology group - we are visionary architects of progress with decades of engineering excellence. As a privately run global partner with more than 650 employees, we look far into the future, rely on long-term viability and thus make opportunities for successful business areas. We are technologically inspiring, immersing ourselves deeply in the latest technologies. This expertise in a wide range of technology areas such as sensors, autonomous robotics, AI or advanced materials and our strong R & D minimum set allows us to develop highly innovative products and services for customers in the most demanding environments, such as the underwater sector, industry, renewable energy sector or plant safety in water and energy supply. Do you want to be active on interesting with your internship project? We're looking for our research department a candidate for a

Thesis in the direction of acoustic lensing (m/f/d)

Our department practices research on new technologies and we develop innovative electronic and mechanical prototypes as well as novel software methods for a wide range of application areas at Rosenxt, including renewable energies, offshore and underwater technology, and sensors in industrial plants. Ultrasound is a technology with a broad application within Rosenxt that can be used in various contexts, e.g. for pipeline wall thickness measurements, orientation of an inspection robot's sensors to the object, the detection of cracks; inherently it is generally suitable for geometry measurements and much more. How good Ultrasound works is always dependent on the materials involved and the geometry of the system it is used in. In a most simple configuration, a transducer emits an ultrasound pulse and by using the time delay delta_t between two echoes, e.g. from the front wall and the back wall of an object, the intended distances, respectively the object, can be determined. Our aim is to explore the use of specific sound patterns for the high resolution detection of geometric features and investigate the potential for applications with ultrasound.

What you can expect: The thesis work shall explore the capable of using acoustic metamaterial to shape the emission of sound beams and to focus (potentially redirect) sound emission on a to be inspected object and the capability to receive the sent signal back to build a higher resolution image from one measurement only.

Besides a peak review for the feasible on other physical sensortypes is wished.

What you can bring Physics, Mechatronics or similar, Informatics and Mathematics students with interest in practical work

Ideally experience with building up/using a lab testsetup
