In the Faculty of Philology of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, a junior professorship W1 Tenure-Track W3 (m/w/d) for newer German literature studies is to be commissioned at the Germanist Institute on 01.10.2026. The future bodyholder*in is to

Expertise is expected in at least one literary-historical period as well as a research profile with matching to (at least) one of the faculties’ focuses on “sustainability”. Practice – Discourse – Culture” and “Worldmaking – Practices – Aesthetics – Media”. A high degree of theoretical reflexivity, a methodological innovate and a cultural-scientific orientation are desirable, which are to be introduced into the literary-historical and philological perspective of the professorship. In particular, the future memberin (m/w/d) expects the willingness and ability to participate in the further development of the interdisciplinary collaborative research of the Faculty of Philology. In the teaching, the professorship is to be in principle active in all modules of the bachelor and master's degree programs of the new German literature. At the latest with the transfer to the W3 professorship, the job ownerin (m/w/d) will represent the subject of new German literature in its entire range. The teaching is in the context of the degree programmes B.A. and M.A. German Studies and in the M.Ed. German as well as in the doctoral student training.

Requirements Promotion with outstanding quality and the proof of special suitability for academic teaching are provided as well as the willingness to participate in academic self-governing.
