Your tasks Reporting to the Head of Global External Innovation & Business Development (EI&BD), this role is embedded within the EI&BD function and plays a central role in advancing our global partnershiping strategy. You will contribute to and, based on experience, lead licensing within a highly collaborative, cross-functional team environment, where successful deal-making is driven by collective expertise and aligned execution. This is an opportunity to operate at the interface of science and business, translating complex data and strategic intent into high-quality agreements that shape Dr. Falk's development pipeline and partnerships. Key Responsibilities Work closely within the Global External Innovation & Business Development team to identify, assess, and advance in- and out-licensing opportunities. Contribute across the full licensing lifecycle, from opportunity evaluation (scientific, strategic, and commercial) to establishment alliance and contract execution. Lead or support licensing depending on experience level, with the opportunity to progressively take ownership of more complex deals. Drive the contracting workstream: structure, draft, review, and negotiate non-binding term sheets (NBTS) and definitive agreements in close collaboration with EI&BD colleagues, internal stakeholders in particular Legal, and external legal partners. Leverage strong scientific understanding to interpret preclinical and clinical data, support opportunity assessment, and strengthening positions with evidence-based insights. Anticipate and resolve contract-related challenges by aligning internal cross-functional teams and external partners towards pragmatic solutions. Monitor compliance, milestones, and governance processes; renewals, amendments, and lifecycle management of agreements. Maintain accurate documentation and ensure transparency of contract status and key terms. Present and communicate key contract-related information stakeholders and governance bodies. Collaborate with Global Commercial New Product and Finance teams to support robust business development. Build and maintain a global network of partners and collaborators.
Your qualification Advanced degree in Life Sciences (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD, MSc) with relevant experience in licensing, business development, and contracting within Pharma, Biotech, or related environments. Proven experience in in- and/or out-licensing transactions across different development stages, with a solid understanding of pharmaceutical structures and BD best practices. Strong scientific curiosity and understanding are essential; enabling you to critically evaluate assets and contribute to preventing grounded in data and mechanism-based reasoning. Experience in contract drafting, structuring, and negotiation, with a clear understanding of legal frameworks and commercial implications. Demonstrated ability to effectively operate within cross-functional team environments; deal-making is viewed as a team-driven process requires alignment, trust, and shared accountability. Highly engaged team player with a collaborative mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and a collective drive to succeed and “win” as part of a team. Strong organizational and priority skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple parallel workstreams. Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (written and spoken), German language is beneficial. Willingness to travel as required (max. 25%).
