Number: MER00041YE Our team “Future Manufacturing Technologies” focuses on robotics and artificial intelligence. In the ARENA2036, a research association at the campus of the University of Stuttgart, we work with partners from research and industry on the production of tomorrow. In a research project, the potential of AI-supported robot systems for the autonomous handling of objects in intralogistics is to be evaluated. As part of the internship, the possibilities of intelligent robots are to be investigated and prototypical demonstrators are to be developed. Possible focal points are the AI-based image processing, the further development of the autonomous gripping of objects and the functional development for the control of autonomous robots. These challenges include: Cooperation in the development of prototypes with new technologies in the field of AI-based robotics Development and training of AI models for image processing using real and synthetic training data Evaluation of different solutions for the implementation of intelligent robot functions The activity can start from June/July 2026.

Course in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a comparable degree course Advanced programming knowledge in Python and sound knowledge in Computer Vision Advantageous knowledge of robotics (e.g. ROS2) Secure English knowledge in word and writing, good German knowledge of advantage Creativity, Motivation and Team Skill
