Research Assistant in the field of: Smart Textiles & Microfactory Production Engineering (m/f/d)

The Institute for Textile Technology (ITA) is an internationally aspiring research and qualification service provider in the field of fiber-based high-performance materials and their manufacturing technologies. Our interdisciplinary research fields include applied research and development with industrial partners as well as basic research. The ITA develops semi-finished textile products and products for applications in the Life Sciences and Healthcare, Construction and Housing sectors, Lightweight construction and mobility and for the energy sector. The digitization of textile processes and resource optimization of integrated production processes are also in our focus as are the mapping of complete textile process chains. The research focus of the Smart Textiles & Microfactory Production Engineering area concerns the integration of electronic components in textile structures, additive manufacturing of functional textiles and the development of sustainable and circular production concepts. The focus is on: Integration of sensor technology and electronics in textiles Additive manufacturing of functional materials Ultrasound welding and hybrid joining technologies Scaling of prototypes to production processes close to standard Test and validation methods (wash resistance, electrical performance) Sustainability and recycling concepts for digital textiles Developing as a Research Associate (w/m/d) of ITA Both your professional profile and a number of other competencies, for example in the field of project management and management, in communication and in first leadership tasks with your student assistants. Your duties Acquiring and working independently on scientific third-party funded research projects in the field of Smart Textiles and Microfactory Engineering You are working interdisciplinary with other research institutions and industrial partners. You develop: Production processes for the integration of electronic components Additives and hybrid manufacturing processes Production concepts for small batch sizes Test and validation concepts for digital textiles You process and run confidential research and development projects with industrial partners You build intensive contacts with research institutions and industrial partners in Germany and abroad and maintain these networks. Of course, you will be represented in presentations and lectures at conferences, symposiums and in education and training.

You have successfully completed your university studies (master or comparable) in the field of mechanical engineering, textile engineering, production technology, electrical engineering or material sciences. Ideally, you have knowledge in the field Smart textiles and functional textiles Additive manufacturing Electronic integration Production and Process Development Experimental validation of material and joining technologies You have a pronounced initiative and a high team capacity. A systematic way of working and a high willingness to interdisciplinary work as well as curiosity about engineering issues round off your profile. You have very good knowledge of German and English.
