BWI's CTO Technology Management focuses on the strategic renewal of the performance portfolio, supported by our Technology Center Communications (TC). Our overarching goal is to identify, evaluate future-oriented technologies and innovations and to investigate their possibilities of use for the Bundeswehr, even if the benefits are perhaps not yet recognized or the technical implementation does not appear to be feasible. We are now looking for a Head of Technology Center Communications (m/w/d):

Head of the Technology Center Communications – a team of 5-10 outstanding experts in communication technologies and their application in the military field. Professional leadership of the team, definition of priorities and fields of action, cooperation in the further development of BWI's Technology Management

Continuous investigation of the R&D landscape on new technological solutions (Emerging Technologies) within defined search fields with strategic relevance for BWI and Bundeswehr

Detection of possibilities of use to address future complex challenges (technology introductory paths)

Development and definition of solutions and standards as a blueprint for potential service developments and extensions of BWI taking into account the system context and corresponding interfaces and dependencies

Advising top management, both internally and externally, with regard to the strategic orientation in the defined technology sector - preparation and presentation of study results and technological findings (target group: C-level management)

Ensuring and promoting an appropriate framework for the professional exchange between the experts of the various technology centres as well as internal customers and stakeholders

Doctoral degree or completed Master's degree in Computer Science, Communication Technology or comparable discipline

At least ten years of professional experience in the field of system and solution architecture or System and solution design after graduation

At least five years of experience in the professional leadership of a team of highly qualified experts

Practical experience in the application of the scientific method in the analysis and evaluation of emerging technologies in the field of network and transmission technology – presented in a military context

Width knowledge in the area of network and transmission technology LAN/WAN, wired/wireless, 3GPP Mobile Networks, satellite communication, routing logs, DWDM, network monitoring and control, network automation, software Defined Network

Advanced knowledge in the field of network architecture concepts

Embossed abstraction capacity as well as the strongly developed capacity for conceptual thinking and extrapolating future scenarios(technology context)

Target- and order-oriented work, ability to conduct professional activities and strong communication skills

German and very good English skills
