Official Veterinarian / Head of Department Food Control (No. 39/2026) (m/f/d)

In order to strengthen the Veterinary and Food Monitoring Centre, we are looking for an official veterinarian/Head of Food Monitoring (m/w/d) unlimited in full time** (part time possible).

As an official veterinarian/Head of Food Monitoring, you can expect varied and responsible tasks at the interface of veterinary, food control and public administration. Bring your expertise, organizational talent and leadership skills to ensure the highest standards in food monitoring together with a dedicated team.

Your tasks:

• You're running the food monitoring department. This includes, among other things, the technical guidance of food inspectors, the establishment of workflows and working priorities, as well as the overall perspective of the subject area.
• They deal with difficult individual cases, check administrative procedures and evaluate the current case law.
• In addition, you will perform specialist tasks.
• The monitoring of TNP plants and veterinarian practices is one of your tasks, as is the application service for Balvi in the food sector.

Your profile:

• Approbation as a veterinarian
• Career examination for the higher veterinary service (professional physician for public veterinary matters, specialist for food) or examination for the employment as an official veterinarian (so-called “American doctor”)
• Applicants (m/w/d) must add a certificate to the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB) at degrees acquired abroad!
• Applicants with a nationality outside the EU or the EEA are asked to provide proof of their application of a valid residence and work permit.
