Research Assistant Manager Large-Scale Research Project Battery Technology (m/f/d)

At the Chair “Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components” (PEM) of RWTH Aachen, we explore and develop product and production innovations that enable the production of electrified drivetrains and their individual components to be produced economically and sustainably. Together with our partners from industry and research, we develop solutions for the mobility of the future – from the first idea to the industrial application. Research project work As part of a publicly funded project, we explore technologies from development, production to recycling for the battery technologies of the future in a holistic approach. The spectrum ranges from the development of innovative battery cells, the development of production technology for efficient production of battery technologies and the optimization of processes for material recovery for a functioning circular economy. We are looking for someone with experience in project management. The RWTH is certified as a family-friendly university. In the topics addressed, you work in an interdisciplinary team and take responsibility for goals, schedules and budgets. The interface of methodological work combined with technical expertise offers you the opportunity to develop professionally and methodically. You support the project management of a research project. You coordinate and monitor goals, budgets and schedules (sub-)projects and work packages. You run teams to achieve the (partial) project goals. As part of a research project, you will explore exciting questions about battery technology You integrate the strategic development of the chair into the design of the research project. We will allow you space for personal development and design of own topics and ideas in the field of battery technology; an environment in which ambitious colleagues work on a common goal: to make the world more sustainable; the establishment and continuous further development of our own network – in one of the most important topics of our time.

You have a successfully completed university degree (master or comparable) in the technical field (e.g. mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering). You have experience in managing larger projects related to leading interdisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder structures. You have already been able to gain experience in battery technology or a comprehensive technical understanding to quickly incorporate yourself into the topic. You have already gained experience in the processing of projects in the field of higher education (optional). You work structured and have experience with organizational tasks (project management tools, data management, processes). You have the self-esteem to develop new topics and to use design space. You work structured and binding, think creative and pragmatic, are curious and motivated to learn new things again and again. You have readiness to travel and are flexible. You speak and write fluent German and English.

The employment is in the employment relationship. The place shall be occupied at the next possible time and shall be limited to 2 years. An extension of at least one year is envisaged. The temporary employment is carried out within the framework of the time-limits of the science-time contract law. It is a full-time job. There is a doctoral opportunity.
