We are dealing with demographic medicine as an important pillar of health care. A collegial team from the fields of medicine and environmental medicine, social work, hygiene, self-help and administration works together for a healthy region of Kassel. Health protection, health promotion and equal opportunities for health are the major tasks of the public health service, for which we are working daily in Kassel and the region. The Department of Hygienic Services comprises four areas of expertise with different topics, in which interdisciplinary teams from different professional groups work together. You work in the field of infection protection and extensively on various other hygienic and infectiological topics of our department. In the field of infectious diseases, we identify reportable infectious diseases, advise patients and take necessary measures to curb infections, including a consultancy for tuberculosis patients and their contact persons. We advise and monitor medical and nursing facilities as well as community facilities as part of hospital and medical hygiene. In addition, we are coordinating body for the multi-resistant pathogen network (MRE network) of our region. In the field of preventive infectiology, we offer speaking lessons for sexual health as well as vaccination hours including travel medical advice. In the field of drinking water and environmental hygiene, the monitoring of drinking and bathing water and the increasingly important environmental and hygiene issues are anchored. Many other topics complete our range of tasks.
