The operating division is the heart of Amazon. This essential part of our company ensures that we send orders efficiently so that our customers receive their articles in time. As an Area Manager, you will ensure that all processes at your location work as smoothly as possible so that we can meet customer demand. You run a team that ensures the safety, efficiency and first-class quality of our operations. In addition, you will guide a number of projects across our entire network to promote productivity. Key job responsibilities Create, supervise and promote a culture of security and well-being Analysis and implementation of changes to ensure continuous high quality and productivity Monitoring of projects to streamline processes, optimize productivity and improve customer service quality:in your area of responsibility Analysis of the shifts according to company specifications and implementation of measures to improve our operational excellence Cooperation with colleagues at management level in order to standardise shift procedures A day in the life You work at one of our locations during shift operation and make sure that the processes there are as productive as possible. Priority Your activity is the management and promotion of a safety culture and the maintenance of the quality and performance standards of the work layers. You also supervise the process improvements in your area and organize the implementation. A typical working day can look quite different and includes both routine team management and daily work tasks as well as process improvement and extensive operational tasks for the eventual case. About the team Amazon Logistik (AMZL) is responsible for delivering millions of products from our customers directly to the doorstep. The “Last-Mile Logistics” delivers our packages in partnership with third-party providers and implements numerous initiatives for continuous improvement to satisfy millions of customers.

Our goal is to make the delivery experience for our customers as smooth as possible and to introduce global delivery solutions for our latest offers, including Amazon Fresh, Prime Now and Amazon restaurants. Our work can be divided into two divisions. “Under the Roof” covers everything that happens within our logistics locations and “On the Road” covers everything that happens in the delivery areas on the road. Our employees prepare the packages in appropriate layers (night, early, late) for daily shipping to our delivery teams and take care of returns that could not be delivered.

Every year we set new standards in terms of customer experience and offer new, innovative delivery services. We are looking for new ways to overcome industry-wide logistics challenges, as well as new ideas to reduce our carbon footprint. We support a fleet of innovative vehicles (including e-vehicles) and state-of-the-art technology.

Degree of study Management experience Relevant experience in communication with different stakeholders, including colleagues and executives Relevant experience in using data or anecdotal evidence to justify business decisions English and German language skills in word and writing Preferred qualifications Experience in working with Lean, Six-Sigma and Kaizen methods Experience with work in another logistics environment Experience in working with the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional environment
