Description The aim of the doctorate is to create a reliable and cognitive sensor network (with different sensor types, positions and types), which detects disturbance variables within the scope of sensor fusion (e.g. signal drift). It should therefore be possible to enable a central consciousness (“sensory cortex”) of the sensors that is built up by continuous learning. With this approach, important properties for reliability, such as self-healing or Repair, automatic calibration or Learning and optimization within the sensor network can be made possible.

• During your doctorate, you mainly conduct scientific research on the system theoretical approaches, e.g. from automotive and biology (state of technology and research).
• They develop system properties, theoretical solutions and models of sensor networks, including methodological evidence, possibly by simulative validation.
• You can also design and program cognitive algorithms to evaluate and ensure reliability in the sensor network.
• In addition, build and program a demonstrator.
• Last but not least, you are responsible for experimental validation and optimization in the test field as well as in the standard environment.

Qualifications

• Education: very good university degree (Master/Diplom) in the field of (Technical) computer science, (Technical) mathematics, technology, technical cybernetics, mechanical engineering or comparable
• Experiences and know-how: sound knowledge in the fields of signal processing, system theory, modelling and simulation; Experience in creating complex, object-oriented software (e.g. C++, Python, .NET and SECS Message Services)
• Personality and working methods: You can easily grasp complex facts quickly, you have excellent skills in scientific research and you like to work in an interdisciplinary environment
• Enthusiasm: interest and joy in analytical theoretical and experimental research activities
• Languages: good German and English in word and writing
