Bypass operations are carried out minimally invasively and by default without a heart-lung machine on the beating heart, in suitable patients also as a hybrid procedure. In addition, there is a high level of expertise in minimally invasive surgical techniques for heart valve interventions and in all repair techniques of heart valves, as well as catheter-assisted interventions (including TAVI, TEVAR). The ROSS operation has a long tradition in Lübeck and is carried out regularly.

Another focus of the clinic is the artificial heart implantation in patients with high-grade heart failure. As part of the university's heart team, there is a close cooperation with colleagues from the Medical Clinic II, Clinic for Rhythmology, as well as the Clinic for Anesthesiology and Intensive Medicine. In addition, complex pathologies of the main impactor in the university vascular centre are supplied interdisciplinary.
