The development of an interdisciplinary research program is expected to combine the most modern experimental molecular biological methods with innovative bioinformatic approaches to treat clinically relevant questions in infection medicine for hepatitis E viruses. The aim is to systematically investigate basic mechanisms using high-resolution sequencing and high-throughput methods and to determine their significance for the patient's illness. The job ownerin is expected to use pioneering technologies that combine high-throughput-based experimental-molecular-biological processes with modern bioinformatic analysis approaches. The aim of this integrative method is to answer both basic scientific questions on virus-host interaction and to develop translational approaches for clinically relevant questions of infection medicine. In addition, the jobholder is to integrate into the research areas of the Faculty (Oncology, Neuroscience and Protein Sciences). Clinical and scientific cooperation with institutions of the Faculty of Medicine and the UK RUB in the existing research areas and development areas as well as participation in existing and future collaborative research projects are desirable.
