W3 Professorship ''System Dynamics and Simulator Technology''

In the field of Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is the first. October 2026 to occupy the following professorship: W3 Professorship for System Dynamics and Simulator Technology

The future owner of the professorship will represent the teaching and applied research in the fields of system dynamics and simulator technology. The aim is to obtain a personality which is characterized by sound theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of modelling and simulation, applied control technology and simulator technology and multiannual experience in at least two of the following areas: Flight mechanics and flight simulation Adaptive and learning systems with reference to simulation Measurement and testing Aeronautical or motor vehicle technology The professorship is represented in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and here in particular in the field of aviation technology (LFT) as well as related studies. In teaching, lectures in the subjects of system simulation and control technology, measurement technology, simulator technology, flight mechanics and flight simulation, as well as simulation of technical processes are to be held by the future job owner or the future job owner. In addition, trainees are to be assisted in the fields of control technology, simulator and flight testing technology, as well as project studies and completion work. The courses at the UniBw M are usually held in German. In addition to teaching, the willingness to applied research and to recruit third parties is expected. For this purpose, the owner of the professorship is provided with a modern laboratory. This has an experimental cockpit, a modular simulator dom for aircraft and helicopters, a simulator cockpit on a 6-axis motion platform, and extensive control-related experimental setups.

The willingness to network with colleagues from the Faculty and the University is desirable, a close cooperation with the Chair of Flight Mechanics and Flight Control is expected.
