The Department of Internal Medicine III (focus on cardiology and internalist intensive care, Director Prof. Dr. med. Derk Frank) offers the entire spectrum of conservative and interventional therapy of heart diseases, embedded in the university heart centre. Interventional cardiology is one of the main areas of focus of the clinic, with a wide range of treatments ranging from complex coronary intervention (CHIP, CTO) to structural heart interventions (including aortic valve, mitral and tricuspidal flap, anterior valve) to mechanical circulatory support methods and eCPR.

The interventional cardiology has evolved rapidly in recent years and, in addition to the established coronary diagnosis and intervention, increasingly comprises complex procedures such as Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO) rekanalisations and Complex High-Risk Indicated Procedures (CHIP), catheter-assisted therapies of structural heart diseases (including TAVI, Mitral and Trikuspidal flap intervention, Vorhofohrsperr) and the circulatory support.

The clinic has an established heart catheter laboratory cardiological intervention center (KIC) with high number of cases, close connection to heart surgery within the heart team and an internalist intensive care unit.

This is what awaits you:

• Embedding in the medical and organizational management team of the Interventional Cardiology area and independent participation in the cardiac ceremony service and appropriate suitability in intensive care

• independent implementation and further development of the coronary and structural intervention spectrum, including complex coronary interventions (CHIP, CTO) and structural heart interventions

• Responsibility for the use of mechanical circulation support and eCPR in the context of interventional care of critically ill patients

• Active participation and representation of the area in the interdisciplinary Heart Team together with heart surgery

• Care, training and guidance of doctors in continuing education, as well as specialist doctors in the field of interventional cardiology and participation in the scientific profile formation of the area, including publication and participation in studies

Take this with you:

• A completed study of human medicine as well as the doctor's name of internal medicine and cardiology (or equivalent qualification); additional training intensive medicine is desired

• The additional qualification of Interventional Cardiology of the German Society for Cardiology (DGK) or a comparable, proven expertise

• Long-standing, comprehensive practical experience in the whole spectrum of interventional cardiology, including complex coronary interventions (CHIP, CTO), structural heart interventions (including aortic valve, mitral and tricusspidal flap, atrial valve) and mechanical circular ink
