You work in the field of research and development with a focus on fastening technology at the Reinhold Würth Innovation Center CURIO. As part of your final work, you will research the state of the art around digital fastening technology, in particular sensor technology, measuring chains, LoRaWAN, data transmission and visualization. You select suitable sensors and evaluate them with regard to technical suitability, measurement quality, integration ability and cost-effectiveness. The selected sensor technology integrates you into an existing LoRaWAN network and accompany the technical implementation. You plan, organize and conduct laboratory and field tests to test measurement data, system behavior and radio transmission in a targeted manner. You then validate the measurement results and evaluate the reliability of sensor technology and data transmission under real conditions. Based on your analysis, you conduct technical insights and evaluate opportunities, limits, risks and scalability of the solution approach. A well-founded conclusion and concrete recommendations for action for the further development of digital fastening solutions complete your work. Optionally you prepare data and develop visualizations or dashboards for time series, status messages, alarms and evaluations.

You are studying mechatronics, electrical engineering and information technology, sensor technology, microsystem technology or a comparable course of study. Good knowledge in the field of mechanical and mechatronic systems will help you. Ideally, you have first experiences in programming, for example with C or C++ in the embedded environment or with Python for e.g. evaluations. Your interest in radio technologies, IoT topics and system integration is yours. A structured, independent way of working and a clean and comprehensible documentation are of course for you. Your mission is rewarded. For a mandatory internship, you can expect 1,400 € gross per month. If you do a voluntary internship for four months or longer or write your thesis with us, you will receive € 2,420 gross per month.
