(Remote) DevOps / Cloud Engineer - Kubernetes & Istio (m/f/d)

In your function as DevOps / Cloud Engineer (gn), you are responsible for the operation and further development of our Kubernetes platforms in the public cloud and contribute to their stability, high availability and security. You take into account and develop best practices and cloud design scatters to optimally shape the Hornbach system landscape and develop standards. You plan and run cluster upgrades, patches and scaling and make sure that Istio Service Mesh is seamlessly integrated. In addition to the PaaS and Kubernetes infrastructures operated by you, you will assist the internal teams with questions about SaaS or the right hosting environment. You support the development of governance policies for cloud use in the company. This includes aspects such as cost management, security, compliance and resource management. Automation is your everyday life: you use tools to speed up the delivery of resources, question existing processes and optimize them by automation. Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) is a central approach for you. Monitoring and Troubleshooting are also part of your tasks - with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana or ELK, you can ensure platform performance.

You have successfully completed your studies in computer science or a related subject - or bring relevant professional experience with appropriate heart blood. Found experience with Kubernetes (including RBAC, Network, Storage, Security) and Istio Service Mesh is a matter of course for you. You are safe to use public cloud environments (AWS, Azure or GCP) and can ideally provide certifications. Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD as Code (Terraform, Groovy, Bash etc.) belong to your daily tools such as container technologies and their tool stack (Docker, Kubernetes, Kustomize, Helmet etc.). Experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD as well as basic knowledge in Java, Python or Go are more than just nice to have. CKA or CKAD certification is desirable, but no need.
