Training for air traffic controllers For a smooth flight in and around Germany, professionals need to keep an overview. After all, it is about the safety of people in heaven. As a pilot you work hand in hand with the pilot: inside. Even if the pilot controls the machine – on your instructions, e.g. for course and height specifications, it is important. Part 1: Theory and Simulation Training (12 – 15 months) You start your training at our Air Safety Academy in Langen (near Frankfurt am Main). Here you will learn all basics for your career path to air traffic controllers. Navigation & meteorology Aircraft Types & Air Law Talk & Aviation English Simulator training Part 2: Practical training on the job (12 – 18 months) With the start of your practical training, you can go to a control center or tower at your later workplace. From now on, you will implement the learned in the live traffic. They are in direct contact with the pilots. Your personal coach, a trained air traffic controller, is on your side and gives you valuable advice and feedback. You gradually expand your competencies – with the acquisition of the last lots license, you can then work completely independently in your area of responsibility as a pilot. Your perspective after training We'll turn you out to take you. After completing your training, you will secure the air traffic in the sky over Germany. In direct radio contact with the pilot: inside the airplanes you will point the safe way through the airspace. So you'll get millions of flight passengers to your destination. Some of our air traffic controllers develop into a supervisor (a kind of ladder), become coach for air traffic controller trainees or work in other DFS areas such as e.g. flight route planning or European cooperation.

You have acquired your General Higher Education (Abitur) or are shortly before your completion. Alternatively, you have a Bachelor degree. They are not older than 24 years at the time of application. They took part in English lessons until the Abitur. Alternatively, you can still communicate safely and liquidly in English.
