To support our growing team, we are looking for the next time: Researcher (m/d) Neurology - Working Group on Movement Disorders and Deep Brain Stimulation 38.5 hours / week first terminated for 3 years after WissZeitVG Remuneration by TV-L Your future in detail The Clinic and Polyclinic for Neurology is one of the largest neurological clinics in Germany. In addition to medical care, research into neurological diseases is at the top priority. The research environment in Cologne has grown steadily in recent years. The research focus on neuromodulation of the Faculty of Medicine is on research and development of innovative preventive and therapeutic approaches for neurological and psychological diseases. The Working Group for Movement Disorders and Deep Brain Stimulation (THS) is dedicated to the study of therapy effects of deep brain stimulation. A special focus is on speech motors in patients with Parkinson's disease. There are local cooperations with the Institute of Linguistics / Phonetics (Prof. Doris Mücke) as well as international cooperations with the Laboratoire Parole et Langage (LPL) in Aix en Provence (Prof. Serge Pinto). Together with the French colleagues, we managed to apply for third-party funding as part of a DFG-ANR project. In this context, the role of basal ganglia in language perception is to be investigated in an interdisciplinary manner over 3 years. The planned experiments are carried out as part of the cooperation in both Germany and France.

For this ambitious project, we are looking for a scientifically highly interested Post Doc, for example from the fields of neuroscience, engineering, linguistics, psychology, physics, biology or medicine for 3 years, ideally with experience in the field of deep brain stimulation and analysis of electrophysiological signals (e.g. EEG / LFP analysis). The candidate should become a team player in the working group on site and in cooperation with the French colleagues (Prof. Serge Pinto, Laboratoire Parole et Langage, Aix-en-Provence / Marseille) . A high level of commitment and flexibility is expected here. Joint, interdisciplinary meetings with colleagues in France are planned, and a longer stay at the cooperating centre in France is also possible for the joint data analysis. French knowledge is of advantage but not necessarily necessary. The experimental set up is available at the Clinic for Neurology, a promising pilot experiment was carried out as part of the application. A vote of ethics is present.
