The interdisciplinary Institute for Auditive Neuroscience and the Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Optogenetic Therapies of the University Medicine Göttingen have set itself the goal of making the great potential of optogenetics – the control of cells by light using light-sensitive proteins – usable for clinical use. Optogenetic therapies combine gene therapy with optical medical devices and thus enable a wider applicability than traditional gene therapy and a higher effectiveness than current medical devices. The institute develops an optical cochlear implant system that aims to restore the hearing capacity of patients with severe to high-grade hearing loss. We are looking for a project manager that strengthens our interdisciplinary team and coordinates the development program on the way to clinical implementation. Planning and coordination of cross-functional development activities and maintenance of the overall project plan, schedules and milestones Coordination of AAV production and CMC activities, including process development, plasmid production, GMP-compliant production and analytical testing Coordination of the planning and implementation of preclinical studies, including efficacy, safety, biodistribution and toxicology programs with external CROs Management of external partners and support for supplier selection, contract conclusion, project start and ongoing performance monitoring Support in preparation for regulatory interactions and submissions, including scientific consultations

Master degree, PhD or equivalent degree in Biosciences, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Biomedicine or a related subject Multiannual professional experience in biotechnology, pharmacy, biopharmaceutical development or translational research Detectable experience in project or program management, ideally in a multidisciplinary development environment Good understanding of biopharmaceutical development; Experience with gene therapy, viral vectors or ATMPs is very desirable Embossed organizational, communicative and stakeholder management skills Ability to understand complex scientific and technical issues and translate them into feasible plans Proactive, structured and practical working style with a high degree of self-responsibility Excellent communication skills in English

You have the opportunity to take on a key role in the further development of a groundbreaking optogenetic gene therapy to clinical development and to work at the interface between science, technology and regulatory development As part of a small and highly interdisciplinary team, you contribute significantly to the development of a novel therapeutic approach and can influence it directly
