Number: MER0003JFA The PP/KT (Special Technologies Body Parts & Material Technology) department in the Center Planning Body Production is responsible for the new-type planning of the parts that are needed for the production of a body in the bodywork. This includes internal press works such as Bremen, Sindelfingen and Kuppenheim as well as all other sizes. Steel and aluminum sheet parts, hot-formed high-strength steel components, tube parts, aluminum die casting parts, aluminum strand press profiles, which are integrated into the raw body are planned. This also includes assemblies such as complete rear washes. The planning is carried out not only for German locations, but worldwide for all Mercedes-Benz structures, including Tuscaloosa (USA), Kecskemét (Hungary) and East London (South Africa). China and Mexico are also involved, but with different planning depths due to their joint venture status. The department also focuses on material technology and strategic analyses in the areas of sustainability, quality, process and cost-effectiveness optimization. In this context, the following topics will be addressed: ‘Comparative investigations into body components with regard to an economic cost-benefit calculation with regard to materials and manufacturing methods to be selected using data-scientific methods’ Starting situation: Similar body components are manufactured using different materials and manufacturing methods Real production data, calculations and quality documentation of the respective series and components are used as the starting basis. Task: Structured and systematic analysis of production data, calculations and quality documentation using data science methods Objective: Developing a well-founded action recommendation to select the optimal set of material and production methods with a view to optimal cost-benefit calculation In addition, you will get an insight into the work of the production planning of Mercedes-Benz AG and can get to know the Sindelfingen plant together with us.
