In the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the Klinikum St. Georg in Leipzig, both the treatment of gynecological and oncological diseases and the birth aid – from care during pregnancy to care for mother and child – are united under one roof. The clinic is an operating centre with a wide range of operational services. In addition to uterine removals, incontinence operations, abdominal reflections and breast surgery (operative breast center) are carried out very frequently. The clinic specialises in the treatment of tumour diseases in female medicine. The main focus of the childcare department is the care of patients with normal pregnancy and risk pregnancies prior to childbirth and family-oriented care under birth. As a level 2 prenatal centre, the clinic has specialized in the diagnosis and care of risk pregnancies and births as well as the care of patients with gestational diabetes and pregnant diabetics.
