The use during the two-year training is carried out in the veterinary and consumer protection department. Practical training takes place there. This is supplemented by three approximately two-month theoretical courses at the Academy for Public Health in Düsseldorf, as well as hospitations in other food monitoring authorities such as the Landeslabor Schleswig-Holstein.

Food controllers perform a variety of tasks. These included, inter alia, the food review of establishments, the assessment of self-control systems and official sampling, including the enforcement measures resulting therefrom.

one of the following qualifications: a vocational training qualification with additional training examination based on the Vocational Training Act (House Economics or Kitchen Masterin) the craftsmanship (Bäcker-, Konditor- or Fleischermeisterin) or as a technician with state examination in a food profession

or a university degree in the field of food (e.g. ecotrophology)

Class B/Class 3 (old) willingness to provide service even outside the usual times readiness to work in the field of external services (e.g. verification of operations) Performance and initiative intellectual skills social competence to third parties Communication In the case of foreign university degrees, the assessment of the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB) must be accompanied.
