The Landeshauptstadt Kiel has an illumination network of approx. 19,700 light spots with approx. 21.700 luminaires and a connection value of about 1.3 megawatts. The road lighting of 270 switching points is switched and controlled via a separate cable network and an insulation switch which triggers the circuit via a digital signal. During the period from 23:00 to 05:00 a.m., part of the street lighting is switched off or all new LED lights are reduced to 50% of the power. At present, street lighting is still operated by an operator. In the future, we as Landeshauptstadt Kiel take over this task ourselves.
