Dual KIA study program in mechanical engineering with a skilled worker qualification as a construction mechanic (m/f/d)

KIA stands for cooperative engineering training: You combine a challenging mechanical engineering study with a practical training as a design mechanic (m/w/d).

Year 1 – First time. Then understand. In the beginning it is about the basics – not just from the textbook. You learn the basics of metalworking in our training center and get a real insight into the world of the design mechanic. Among other things, this is about: Manual and machine machining Use tools and machines safely understand technical drawings Parallel you start with the basics of your mechanical engineering studies. Year 2 – From theory technology becomes. Intensify your craft skills and learn how individual components work out. You're working with: different welding methods Assembly and disassembly of assemblies the testing of components Your study also takes up a journey: mathematics, physics, technical mechanics, construction and other engineering foundations form your theoretical foundation. From year 3: Now it becomes really exciting. You have the basics on it. Now it goes out of the training mode and into your future specialist department where you can start later as an engineer. Depending on your use and interests, the following areas are possible: How is a process suitable for manufacturing from a technical idea? You develop workflows, set up work plans and deal with the question: ''How do we get the part efficiently, economically and in the right quality?'' Do you want to know not only what is being built, but also what? Then the device design could be your field of play. You develop and construct resources and devices that help to produce complex components precisely. Quality management After 5 years, you have 2 degrees in your pocket – your Dipl. Engineer + a recognized specialist degree as a construction mechanic. And more importantly, you don't just know how to calculate something. You know how it is built. You have a look for detail? This is about dimensional accuracy, testing, quality assurance and technical requirements. For complex products: Almost right is not right enough. Year 4 – From joining to shaping You are no longer “only” in training, but you know the processes, have gained practical experience and can judge technical relationships more and more independently. Year 5 – Your degree. Your next step. Endtrack. You deepen your knowledge, write your thesis and prepare for your career. Good Abitur or Fachabitur – you have a solid basis for study and training. Good performance in mathematics, physics and chemistry – because technology needs a good understanding of scientific relationships. Logical thinking, technical understanding and craftsmanship – you want to understand how things work, and also like to pack up yourself. A good spatial imagination – technical drawings and complex constructions do not scare you off. A careful, reliable and conscientious way of working – you work exactly and can focus on your tasks. Commitment, willingness to learn and team skills – you are introducing yourself, want to learn new things and work together with other solutions.
