Safe food - Protection from contagious diseases - Healthy livestock The Landesprüfungsamt (LUA) is the central state service provider in the consumer and health protection of humans and animals in Rheinland-Pfalz. Together with our around 500 employees, we work at five sites in Koblenz, Landau, Mainz, Speyer and Trier to monitor and investigate food throughout the country, Objects of need, medicines and cosmetics, diagnostics and control of animal diseases and the protection of humans from contagious diseases. The Department of Human Medicine of the National Investigation Centre is the leading, investigative and advisory body for public health services, in particular in the areas of infection diagnosis and infection prophylaxis. The department consists of the Institutes for Hygiene and Infection Protection (IHIS) in Koblenz, Landau and Trier, as well as the health schools. In addition to the national reporting centre for monitoring infectious diseases under the Infectious Protection Act, IHIS Landau is home to several laboratories for microbiological and environmental hygiene studies, including a unit for sequencing pathogens. We are looking for the next possible time (probably on 1 July 2026) a doctor or a doctor as head of Unit 32 “Institut für Hygiene Infection Protection Landau” (m/w/d) to grade A 16 LBesG or comparable grouping after the TV in full time of the Department of Human Medicine at Landau/Pfalz (code: LUA – 2026/016-Gu)

Infection protection law Support of department management in the further development of the site, focusing on “Next Generation Sequencing”, surveillance of infectious diseases, outbreak detection and control Participation in the cross-site tasks of the medical service, in particular in the context of the medical diagnostic services of the department (e.g. HIV, hepatitis B/C, TB) and the other national responsibilities of LUA in the protection of infections Advising the public health service, the interested public and political decision-makers on questions of laboratory diagnosis and infection protection, including answering individual medical questions in the epidemic hygienic context preparation, analysis and evaluation of reporting and laboratory data; draft opinions and reports; Lecture activities in the subject area Representation of LUA in working groups at national and federal level

Approbation as a doctor or doctor, multiannual leadership experience and deeper knowledge of common methods of laboratory-based infection diagnosis Advantageous are recognition as a specialist with reference to infectious medicine (e.g. microbiology, hygiene, internal medicine / infectiology / tropical medicine, laboratory medicine), a “Field Epidemiology Training Program” (e.g. PAE, EPIET, EUPHEM) Building study of epidemiology (e.g. MSc, MPH) or comparable qualifications A high affinity for IT specialist applications in the laboratory and administrative environment is a prerequisite; additional IT identifiers related to biostatistics, epidemiology and/or sequence data analysis are advantageous The ability to work scientifically, usually detected by a doctorate, is desirable; Applications for candidates who have dealt with microbiological or infection-epidemiological issues in the context of a habilitation are particularly welcomed discretion, reliability and trustworthiness Team- and communication skills, decision-making, over-average resilience and willingness to work flexibly, especially in health hazards or in crisis times
