The Fraunhofer Society is one of the world's leading organisations for application-oriented research. 74 institutes develop groundbreaking technologies for our economy and society – more precisely: 30 000 people from technology, science, administration and IT. You know, who comes to Fraunhofer wants and can change something. For yourself, for us and the markets of today and tomorrow. INNOVATIONS COMPONENTS WITH UNS At the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics IAF we know our technologies like our Western Bag. As one of the few scientific institutions worldwide, we are researching along the entire semiconductor value chain and customized synthetic diamonds. Whether high-frequency circuits for communication technology, voltage converter modules for electromobility, laser systems for measurement methods, or novel hardware and software for quantum computers and quantum sensors: We develop tomorrow's technology from a single source for a sustainable and secure society. The Microelectronics (ME) department designs microelectronic components and circuits for high-frequency technology and power electronics. Systems for sensor technology, communication technology and power electronics are developed on the basis of the high-frequency modules. In addition, we are equipped with state-of-the-art measuring technology. .

Design the future of high-frequency electronics with us! We work on the development, design and implementation of state-of-the-art integrated high-frequency circuits (MMICs), innovative chiplet architectures and integrated subsystems (SoC) for modern telecommunications applications in the frequency range up to 300 GHz. You accompany the entire development process – from the first system conception to characterization and actively contribute your expertise to challenging research projects. We offer you the opportunity to develop scientifically and professionally: A doctorate as part of your activity is possible. Your tasks in detail: You design integrated high and high frequency circuits (MMICs) based on our in-house InGaAs-HEMT technologies with gate lengths of 35 nm and 20 nm. In addition, design and develop system-on-chip solutions (SoC) and perform system simulations of transmission and reception MMMICs to optimize both individual circuit blocks and the overall system. Another focus of your activity is the system-oriented circuit and chiplet design (co-design) for heterointegration to glass technologies, in particular with regard to HF transitions, packaging effects and thermal interactions. In addition, you will focus on the EM simulation of passive components, such as substrate-integrated wafer guide filters, couplers and combiners, and develop powerful MMIC-to-interposer transitions. You take over the planning, implementation and evaluation of measurements and present and publish the research results in scientific journals and at international conferences.
