Actively shape the future of science – at NFDI The National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) e.V. is a non-profit association with the mission of systematically developing valuable data from science and research, networking and making it useful in the long term. Bund and countries jointly promote NFDI and create an indispensable prerequisite for new research questions, insights and innovations. 26 specialist consortia, 327 member organisations and more than 1600 persons from different scientific disciplines are currently involved in the association. The directorate and office will support the association in coordinating the various institutions and departments, content-strategic, overarching cooperation and representation to the outside.

At an international level, the NFDI Association represents Germany's national interests in the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Association as a mandated member. Since 2025, the NFDI association has helped to build the EOSC as a support for distributed systems (EOSC Federation). In the project “Building up EOSC Node Germany”, which is currently in the request for the German Research Foundation (DFG), the NFDI association works together with partners to build the EOSC Node Germany, which is to serve as a central point of access for German researchers to the EOSC Federation. We are looking for this project - subject to the grant agreement - with the date of entry of 1st. September 2026

(further) development of standardized processes and creation of a concept for the connection of services to the EOSC Node Germany (in particular based on the work on the NFDI service portfolio) Conception of the (technical) connection of services of the NFDI service portfolio to the EOSC Federation Establishing technical and organizational structures for the EOSC Node Germany (in particular building a web portal for NFDI services including an associated database) Support in the development of a sustainable operating model for the EOSC Node Germany Participation in the (further) development of a concept for a cross-architect architecture of NFDI (particularly in terms of linking with the EOSC Node Germany) Development and implementation of measures in the areas of information security and data protection in close coordination within the NFDI office and with external IT service providers Supporting the technical implementation of reporting processes and tools Presentation of the project and of NFDI in the public (especially through lectures and workshops in the European context As a speaker:in - service portfolio in the “Building up EOSC Node Germany” project, you work in a newly built team with up to five other people in close coordination with the other teams of the office. The tasks are varied and agilely organized. You enjoy a high degree of self-responsibility and have the chance to build and shape the EOSC Node Germany as a central point of access for German researchers to the EOSC Federation.

Complete training or study in the IT field (e.g. technical informatics, system integration, data management, information infrastructures) or comparable professional experience Experience in the development of software solutions and the ability to translate technical requirements into sustainable concepts and architectures Experience in building, operating and developing IT services with a focus on the needs of the benefiters High self-initiative and the willingness to actively shape and develop new technical and organisational structures Experience in Information Security and Data Protection Excellent knowledge of German and English in word and writing Enthusiasm for research data management and information infrastructures in the (inter) national science context Own-responsible, structured and independent operation In addition, you will bring the necessary readiness for this position.
