Supplier: Chair of Information and Automation Systems for Process and Material Technology The Chair of Information and Automation Systems at RWTH Aachen represents the automation technology in research and teaching, with a focus on the automation of industrial processes and smart manufacturing as well as on data-intensive, flexible systems. The focus is on the design, realization and operation of industrial data systems as well as the dynamic, largely automated configuration of large-scale information and automation systems for the realization of data-intensive, flexibly usable solutions. Our research priorities include: Digital twins and digital product passports Cross-life cycle, continuous digital representations of products, plants and processes as a central data hub. Semantic data and knowledge infrastructures Ontologies, knowledge graphs, information modeling and contextualization to integrate and link heterogeneous engineering, production and operating data. Industrial data spaces and networked data systems Architectures and concepts for secure and sovereign data exchange within and between companies as a basis for collaborative value creation. Data and knowledge-based assistance systems Development of assistance solutions for operation, maintenance, engineering and management that rely on digital twins, data spaces and knowledge-based systems. Various automation systems and demonstrators are available in our digital laboratory to test and validate our approaches. Various cooperations with research institutions, associations and companies enable projects for the development and standardization of industrial IT and automation as well as for the digitization and optimization of plants and value-added networks, in particular in process and material technology. Complete university studies (master or comparable) of electrical engineering, computer science or automation technology (or comparable degree programs with reference to process automation) with very good degree programs Enthusiasm for solving technical challenges Solid knowledge in at least one object-oriented programming language (ideally Python) and in at least one software development environment Willingness to take responsibility in projects and in the care of students Individual initiative, team spirit and creativity Very good knowledge of German and English (at least. Level C1) Basic knowledge of information modelling (e.g. metamodel concept, data models, ontologies, knowledge graphs)
