We're doing port, this is our mission. You want to pack and not just watch – right where Germany's largest seaport pulsates? Then you'll be a porter with us!

In your training you are in the middle of what is happening: You support the transportation of goods, loading and unloading, and exciting maneuvers on the water. You will learn to guide harbour vehicles safely, to use tow harnesses and keep the technology on board. With maintenance and care, you make sure everything is ready for use. You develop technical skills during the festivization and retrieval, become familiar with the harbour area and know what it is about navigation, driving and tides.

You start at the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) in the team of the fleet Hamburg. There you will learn on about 50 different ships, such as fire, police and peilships, lottery shippers, icebreakers and rubbish. At the same time, you will get insights into the entire port infrastructure – from bridges and locks to rails and roads – and become part of a team of 1900 colleagues who keep the Hamburg port running around the clock. You have a good ESA degree and technical understanding. Physically you are fit and bring the necessary seaworthiness. A red-green weakness is not present to you – important for safety on board. You have a good sense of orientation and are ready for shiftwork. Teamwork is fun, you are committed, flexible and reliable.

Start on 01.09.2026 and training period of 3 years. Place of training: Rugenberger Damm 2, 21129 Hamburg. Theory at the Professional School of Industrial Logistics and Security (BS27), Wendenstr. 268, 20537 Hamburg. Remuneration according to TVAzubi-AVH with a training salary in the 1st year of training of about € 1,200 gross.
