Research Assistant (m/f/d)

You identify the necessary technical measures for the migration of the existing library management system (SISIS) into the open source BMS FOLIO. This is done in close coordination with the participating universities and the BVB's headquarters. The aim is to broadly harmonize the processes at the participating four universities in Berlin. You design and control the technical implementation of migration taking into account technological milestones in the project plan and develop automated processes if necessary. You contribute to the analysis, development and optimization of operating concepts of FOLIO and VuFind. You will advance the migration project through your active participation in cross-linked and national FOLIO working groups. You support universities in the technical integration of the BMS into the campus infrastructure and, if necessary, in connection with identity management and household systems of universities.

Completed academic studies in computer science, library informatics, information sciences or comparable disciplines User knowledge of script languages for the automation of data processes (e.g. Python), knowledge of API integration (REST/JSON) and interface management Experience in system administration, good knowledge in the Linux environment Experiences with PostgreSQL and Kubernetes are advantageous Ideally knowledge of ETL tools for data transformation (e.g. OpenRefine, Catmandu, Metafacture) and library data formats Very good language skills in German, good language skills in English (word and writing) High level of readiness and flexibility Team skills and initiative
